With the development of computer and Internet technology, video games, since its birth in 1950s, have already become one of the indispensable parts of people’s social life. Video games provide a platform for players to interact with each other, and also a way to express themselves in the virtual world.This study set video games this type of new art and media form as target, and made analysis of their arrative features deeply, aiming to explore unique media and narrative characteristics of video games, changes of players and experiences in games, as well as individual self-awareness caused by narrative of video games from the perspective of communication and narrative studies.Around the "Final Fantasy VII" game the case, this essay used survey data, literature readings, and collection methods of related data, in order to dissect its narrative structure and characteristics, analyse how video games fulfill narrative, what the similarities and differences are between its and traditional narrative, what role do the players play in the video game narrative, what effect of the narrative will be for interactive electronic game players.According to "Final Fantasy VII" case analysis and relevant game data set, this essay is based on the settings of narrative information and the interaction between players and game contents. There exist various types of events, of which some cannot be intervened and some can be designed and arranged by players.While players manipulate and play the role of the game, the individual narrative is converting constantly, which makes new experience arising from game uncertainty become the vital reason for players’indulgence in game. The setting of a variety of game selection mechanism makes it possible to generate more personalized narrative, establish unique narrative of players. Also, in this process, players are able to get clearer self-awareness, as a result of which the second creation related to games are triggered.
