Under the background of globalization, open society begins to adopt the immigrants with multi-culture and different ethnic groups. The domestic communication and integration between different ethnic groups become frequently, meanwhile, the international population mobility became a common phenomenon, which arouses the trend of immigration from less developed areas to developed areas. The developed countries and metropolis have been the desired destination for immigrants and the immigrants also has been an important part of urban society. As the typical immigrant country, Canada pursues the multiculturalism policy and attract amounts of immigrant people from all over the world. It is necessary to research the urban social integration of immigrant children, analyze the traits of Canadian society, explore the advantages and disadvantages of social integration and study the strategies which promote the immigrant children to integrate into the urban society, in order to provide some academic reference for the prevalent international phenomenon. The physical and mental health development and future development of immigrant children are the hot issues for their homes, schools and society. The problem when the immigrant children confront with in the process of urban social integration, is relative to the future development of immigrant children. Nowadays, the problem of migrant children’s urban social integration become more and more prominent, and there are some similarities among China and Canada. Therefore, it is worth to research on the problems and solving strategies of immigrant children’s urban social integration in Canada.The dissertation contains seven parts. The first part is preface which consist of the background of the subject, research significance, literature review, theoretical foundation, and methodology. The second part mainly demonstrates the connotation of immigrant children’s urban social integration in Canada and identifies the concept of immigrant children of Canada. It also introduces the benchmarks of immigrant children’s urban social integration from the aspects of education, culture and psychology and discusses the relationship between the characteristics of society and the social integration of immigrant children. The pluralism decides the method of immigrant children social integration. The openness is the prerequisite for social integration of migrant children. The sound legal system of urban society is the assurance of social integration. The third part of the dissertation is to explain the factors affecting the immigrant children integrate into the urban society of Canada, including the favorable and unfavorable factors. The favorable factors refer to higher education expectation of immigrant children, Inclusiveness of multicultural society, and the guarantee of legal and policy system. The unfavorable factors include the following aspects:language barriers, complicated source country background, and ethnic diversity. The fourth part of the dissertation depicts the challenges with which the immigrant children confront. The main problems immigrant children facing in the process of integrating into society are educational dilemma under the background of language diversity, the barriers of school education integration under the cultural difference, conflict of prejudice and cultural barriers, social services shortage under the institutional barriers, the mental problems under environmental adaptation dilemma. Aiming at the challenges, the fifth part of the dissertation states the solving strategies to help immigrant children to integrate into urban society in Canada. The corresponding strategies mainly include developing flexible and diversified bilingual education, establishing multi-party cooperation integration mechanism based on family, school and community, promoting the cognition of dual social identity of migrant children, constructing a comprehensive immigration integration system and establishing a psychological intervention mechanism. The study of immigrant children’s urban social integration in Canada can provide a series of enlightenments. The sixth part of the dissertation analyzes the present situation of immigrant children in China, and points out that the immigrant children in China has been confront with several dilemmas such as, institutional barriers and social policy obstacles, home, school and community segregation, and the social exclusion. In order to enhance the degree of social integration of migrant children, it is necessary to draw lessons from Canada that dedicates to build comprehensive legal system, establish multi-party cooperation integration mechanism based on family, school and community and create an open social atmosphere. The last part of dissertation is the summary which explains the importance of the study on immigrant children’s urban social integration and comment that Canada and China have their own national conditions. The research should be based on a holistic view.
