Factors Of College Students’ Belief In A Just World And Its Relationship With Social Well-being

In recent years, the number of negative events in China is increasing year by year,showing complicated and changeable features, such as Shandong vaccine incident, European refugees, College students accident or suicide, Bachu serious violent terrorist incidents,serious violent terrorist incidents of Kunming Railway Station, Tianjin Port bombings.Together with this trend is an increasing pressure felt by college students. Due to the rapid development of online media, the accelerated propagation velocity and the timeliness of negative events, college students’ social attitude, beliefs and values will inevitably be affected by negative information of the events, therefore develop negative emotions, fear or psychological crisis, resulting in unhappy experience. Faced with the surrounding society accelerated pace of life, increasingly fierce competition of study and work, frequent of negative events, what can contemporary college students do to face it, how can they harvest happiness?As a stable cognitive, belief in a just world plays an important role. Belief in a just world,in short, is that people in the world hold a fair perception. Belief in a just world has rebuilding justice, maintaining mental health and other positive features. When there is a negative affect,with the help of psychological capital(PsyCap), college students could expand their inner resource to realize a good adjustment as well as improving social well-being.Psychological capital scale, just world belief scale for college students(authors: Du Jianzheng, et al.), self-established social emotion scale and social well-being scale(authors:Miao Yuanjiang, et al.) were used in this study aim to explore the relationship among social emotion, PsyCap, belief in a just world and social well-being. After analysis the data collected from 467 college students on campus, conclusion are as follows:1.Self-established social emotion scale has two dimensions.The scale has good reliability and validity, and can be used as an effective measurement tool of social emotion among college students.2.Significantly negative correlation are found between social emotion and psychological capital, and social well-being(r=-.502,p<.01;r=-.287,p<.01), Psychological capital and social well-being has significantly positive correlation(r=.710,p<.01), immanent justice and ultimate justice were both significantly and negatively correlated with SE(r=-.304,p<.01; r=-.159,P<.01), significantly and positively correlated with SWB(r=.476,p<.01;r=.558,p<.01), and with PsyCap(r=.399,p<.01;r=.502,p<.01); while immanent injustice was significantly and positively correlated with SE(r=.419,p<.01), negatively correlated with PsyCap and SWB(r=-.235,p<.01;r=-.203,p<.01);3.Belief in a just world has played part of a a mediating role between Social emotion andBJW,mediating effect ratio is 61.6%; and has a mediation effect between Social emotion and Social well-being, mediating effect ratio is 23.6%.4.College students’ gender, and major types had no significant difference in each of the variables, the student cadre or not had significant differences in the PsyCap and social contribution. College students’ social emotion, PsyCap, SWB as rural students, towns, cities,presents the tendency of increasing, belief in a just world present decreasing trend. PsyCap,BJW and its factor of inner justice and ultimate justice in the family upbringing and parents emotion showed significant difference.Based on the results above, we put forward the corresponding education countermeasures. Society and education institutions、schools and families should pay attention to and strengthen the emotional education, enhance emotional management ability, well-being education.
