The teachers’ quality includes psychological features that reflect in educational activities which can decide the effect of their education and teaching. As a special and common group, the English teachers in junior middle schools are charged with the training of teachers for English language learning and their quality can have a direct impact on their students. After China’s joining WTO, our country has more and more contacts with other countries, so the need for English language learners with high quality has become more and more urgent. Today teachers are paying much more attention to the quality of the English teachers in junior middle schools. Only excellent teachers can train excellent students. The current study is based on questionnaire survey and theoretical analysis. Through the investigation of some English teachers in junior middle schools in Yingshan County, it investigates these English teachers’ quality, making suggestions on improving English teachers’ quality in their life-long education.It has analyzed four aspects of English teachers’ quality in this thesis, focusing on professional morality, educational concepts, cultural quality, and capacity quality. After consulting relevant documents and various curriculum experts’ opinions, a questionnaire was developed in this thesis which examined these characteristics of junior English teachers. It investigated their professional morality, their educational concepts, their cultural quality, and their capacity quality in this thesis. Following a careful analysis of the questionnaire results, the results are:1. Most junior English teachers in Yingshan County have set up correct educational morality.2. Most junior English teachers in Yingshan County have clear educational concepts.3. Most junior English teachers in Yingshan County have basic knowledge of teaching. But their research ability and knowledge about education technology still need to be improved.4. The ability of classroom management of junior English teachers in Yingshan County is very strong, which gives basic support for the implementation of the new curriculum.5. The English teachers’ teaching capability in Yingshan County is not strong, the basic teaching abilities are not solid enough, and teaching skills are not very proficient.6. Junior English teachers in Yingshan County have strong teaching reflective competence.7. Research consciousness and research capability of junior English teachers in Yingshan County are poor and need to be improved.8. Many junior English teachers in Yingshan County hope to have chances to do further study because they think they still have a lot of space to be improved according to the requirements of the new curriculum.In order to meet the needs of learning society, based on the expectations of life-long learning, the educational organizations in our country should re-think the educational and training resources. Here are the suggestions of how to improve English teachers’ quality:1. Strengthen the quality of professional morality and make teachers establish the professional morality for national development.2. Construct teachers’ continuing educational system and provide safeguard for improving English teachers’ quality of junior middle school.3. Pay close attention to the need for life-long learning and construct a long-term self-education system.This thesis has studied the quality of the English teacher of junior middle school in Yingshan County. The purpose of this thesis is to establish a robust scientific structure so that the English teachers’ quality can be improved in order to meet the needs of the development in the new era and the course reform and establish the foundation for improving English teachers’ quality.
