According to the National cancer registry center’s 2015 annual report, the number of cancer patient in the year 2011 was 3.37million, which had increased about 0.28million compared to 2010’s. When the patient are in their lives’ final stage, they not only have to undertake body’s pain caused by the disease, but also bare the pain, despair, fear caused by the spiritual distress and they can only receive regular painkillers. This situation lasts a long time for two reasons, one is the influence of traditional culture and another is that medical social workers don’t have deep understanding of spiritual caring.According to the current situation, the writer have a clear definition of spirituality, spiritual caring and spiritual distress and have a clear introduction of doctor zhao’s theory. In the second part, the writer have spiritual caring for five patients and find their four kinds of spiritual distress,1.cannot release themselves from the pain; 2.be disappoint to the medical care or god; 3.cannot face to the death quietly; 4.be suspicious of lives’ meaning and value.To the patients’ spiritual distress, the writer finds their four kinds of spiritual needs,1.say sorry to themselves; 2.increase the confidence to the god or medical environment; 3.face to the death quietly; 4.find the lives’ meaning and value. In the last part, the writer displays the way to release the cancer patients’ spiritual distress.
