The Studies On The Spiritual Support Of Rural Elderly

With the deepening and acceleration of aging in China, and also with the influence ofgrowing old before grows rich, the ageing problem in China is becoming increasinglyprominent, and gradually become one of the focuses of attention. This article concerns thespiritual support of the rural elderly. On one hand, in many studies on pension issues, moreconcerned about the old-age economic and material support, but pay less attention to theirspiritual support, along with economic development and social progress, the needs of theelderly in the spiritual support have become increasingly prominent, especially in rural areas;On the other hand, in the elderly pension problem study, the concern of the urban elderly isrelatively more than the concern of the rural elderly. Through field investigations and studies,this thesis classified, described and analyzed the spiritual support problems of the elderly byusing social exchange theory, aimed at the existing problems to make theoretical discussion,and put forward countermeasures and suggestions to solve the problems.This article is divided into three parts. The first part, clarifies the background andsignificance of this study, summarizes the related research on this aspect, makes researchschemes, and expounds the theoretical basis of this study. The second part, first of all,describes spiritual support current situation of the elderly in Huang Village from fourdimensions of the spiritual support: health needs, respect for the personality demand, theachievement of peace of mind and feelings of comfort. Secondly, analyses the problemssystematically exist in the elderly spiritual support from three aspects: dependents, familymembers and social conditions. Finally, elaborates the various factors which affecting therural elderly spiritual support from the macro and micro perspective. The third part, on thebasis of above analysis, put forward countermeasures and suggestions to improve the ruralelderly spiritual support system.
