With the deepening reform of basic education, science educators and researchers gradually realize that the purpose of science education is not to put a few people a scientist, but to all the students cultivate a scientific literacy, the ultimate goal of science education is scientific literacy. Therefore, in the reform of modern science education, the status of scientific inquiry highlights, then how to evaluate the scientific inquiry? Criticized due to the particularity of scientific inquiry, the traditional paper-and-pencil test obviously can not fully qualified for the evaluation of scientific inquiry, the more suitable and diversified evaluation methods are needed. Performance evaluation seems to be more suitable for scientific inquiry evaluation. Performance evaluation including on-site observation and worksheet, the latter because of its high efficiency is applied in many international evaluation projects. The new curriculum standard of our country highlights the importance of scientific inquiry, and puts forward new requirements for the evaluation of scientific inquiry. And the difference between worksheet and field observation is that worksheet do not need to consume huge manpower and material resources, only one supervisor can accomplish the task of evaluation of dozens or even more people, especially suitable for the situation of our country, hence worksheet is praised by Chinese researchers in recent years. But in our country, the research on worksheet is not much, so the study on the assessment of scientific inquiry based on worksheet is very important. I hold the idea that any evaluation of scientific inquiry do come down to the two important issues, namely:What is the scientific inquiry? What kind of evaluation method is adopted? This study based on the connotation and elements of scientific inquiry in the Next Generation of Science Education Standards, makes a new and deeper attempt in the form of structural worksheet to provide reference for researchers and educators.This thesis is divided into seven chapters. The introduction part briefly describes the overview of the research, and the significance of the research is analyzed.The first chapter, literature review. This chapter summaries the work of domestic and foreign scholars in science inquiry, made a more detailed review of the structural worksheet research work, which laid a solid theoretical foundation.The second chapter, the theoretical basis of this paper. The basis theory of scientific inquiry are multiple intelligence theory, constructivism learning theory. Generally speaking, the theory of multiple intelligence holds that every student is unique and should pay attention to the differences of individual development and the imbalance of individual development. In the view of constructivism, the focus of educational evaluation should be the process of knowledge acquisition, but not just the result.The third chapter, research questions and design. Clear the core concept of this study, the research content and the research method are very important. The core concept of "scientific inquiry", "performance evaluation" and "worksheet" are defined, and clear the main research content, and to determine the routes and methods of the research. Generally speaking, the theory of multiple intelligence holds that every student is unique and should pay attention to the differences between students’ individual development. Constructivism holds that educational evaluation should focus on the process of knowledge acquisition, not just the result. Postmodernists thought that the purpose of education is to cultivate people with critical ability. And education goals, programs and evaluation are all open, development and process centered.In the fourth chapter, the preparation and investigation of worksheet. It introduces the preliminary work as following:the design of the research tools, the selection of the research object and the text encoding.The fifth chapter, the construction of the evaluation index of scientific inquiry based on worksheet. The assessment objects and the standard are based on the elements and expectations of scientific inquiry in the Next Generation of Science Education Standards. This paper mainly analyses the content of the Compulsory Education in Junior High School Science Curriculum Standard as the evaluation task. And based on the design idea of the structural worksheet, the main frame of the structural worksheet is designed. In addition, three worksheets were designed to test the feasibility of the structural worksheet and the evaluation index of this study was revised.The sixth chapter, data analysis. Using the tested worksheets, select Wenzhou, Jinhua and Zhoushan of Zhejiang Province, total of three cities and three schools,360 students were measured. The survey data are analyzed combining quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis from the two dimensions of research tasks and areas,The last chapter, research conclusion, reflection and suggestion. This chapter conclude an overview of the research conclusion, the research limitations and shortcomings analysis, and the further amendments are proposed.
