Application And Reflection:The Virginia Satir Family Therapy In Case Work

With the rapid development of modernization, the urbanization process is also accelerating. Family structure and culture in China are changing, at the same time some family problems, such as domestic violence, the separation and emotional complications between husband and wife, children’s education and so on. These problems also attracted the wide attention of the scholars. In this context, a number of tough questions hang over the changing, the government and relevant organizations should mediate them, and social workers have also been focused on the change of China’s family, and start to provide professional services. They help families cope with the present structure imbalance and functional loss.In last three decades, Satir family therapy has a unique advantage in many family therapy.The model combined with the local culture, it also applies to the development of our family. From the perspective of system view, it solves individual problem in the family, include families crisis. By using communication stance, iceberg theory, family map and other professional methods, the model helps families re-examine the relationship between the family rules and membership. At present, there is a long history about the model in west countries, scholars use it for a large number of practical research, the domestic scholars are also conducting.In this paper, the research object is author’s family, her younger brother is the main object of intervention. In this model, it will be used to help improve his self-esteem and confidence, improve family tensions, and help family members understand the inner thoughts with each other, then grow together.The last two part of research findings and reflection summarize the research achievement and analyze some weak point of the research so as to present the perspective of the further research.
