The moral identity refers to a form of social identity indicating that the moral subject identifies him or herself by morality and considers being a moral person as a lifetime pursuit.The moral identity goes beyond moral cognition; a knowledge and comprehension of moral norm and principle account for paramount significance for moral identity. A better demonstration of the nature of moral identity lies in the emphasis on the morality’s core position in life value system and its paramount significance in ego.The limitation of moral cognitive theory lies in the theoretical background of the rise of moral identity studies. With the upsurge of market economy, globalization and network society, social ethos show diversified trends along with the mutual influences, collisions and crashes of varied values, thus the moral cognitive theories appearing in the unitary and isolated age should be developed to adapt to the changes of times. In the unitary and isolated times, moral cognition and behavior were naturally united without moral choice. However, in an open and pluralistic society, the unity of moral cognition and behavior, contributed by moral choice, are based upon their differentiation. Moral choice is made in accordance to the establishment of moral belief that can only be generated along with moral emotion in the case of putting morality at the core position of life value system, which consists of the key and core content of moral identity. Therefore, in the 1990 s, Brasi put forward the moral identity theory. In the construction of China’s socialist modernization, the disunity of knowing and doing emerging in social life supports from the opposite side the importance of moral identity studies that were initiated from the early 21 st century in China.This thesis selects excellent students from South China University of Technology(SCUT)as research objects and general students as reference objects, attempting to explain the relation between moral identity and personal moral standard and their values to personal development. According to this thought, this thesis firstly discusses the status quo of moral identity of excellent students and its influence factors; secondly causes will be analyzed with the tool of SPSS; finally, According to the outstanding college students’ moral identity formation,promotion to the improvement of college students’ moral identity, an effective development path of moral identity among college students will be constructed on the basis of the above analysis.
