The Ecological Environment Of Humanities And Social Sciences In The Universities Of Science And Technology

Since 1952, it began to establish or restore science, liberal arts, and gradually improve the layout of disciplines and toward the Polytechnic combination of comprehensive university direction in the universities of science and technology. Then the Humanities and Social Sciences(H&SS) gain a foothold in the universities of science and technology, Especially with the "211 Project", "985 Project" promotion, how to create a high-level university until building a world-class university put on the agenda, H&SS construction is particularly urgent. In recent years, H&SS have made a great achievement in the universities of science and technology. However, it still remained a lot of glaring problems, it faced with the problems of late start, weak foundation, uneven development, insufficient resources, large gap between scientific research level and so on. On the current situation, the universities of science and technology is a multidisciplinary university which still based on engineering, science is strong discipline, the presence of small amounts of economics, law, or literature, history, liberal arts, long-term development of the H&SS needs further consideration.In this study, H&SS in the Universities of Science and Technology as the research object, five universities as an example —Chongqing University, Dalian University of Technology, Southeast University, South China University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, to explore ecological environment and development of H&SS in the Universities of Science and Technology on the basis of the actual construction situation.This paper focuses on the two blocks of content. The first part mainly analyzes the ecological characteristics of the H&SS, and the ecological relationship and ecological competition between the humanities and science and engineering in five universities from the richness of the subjects, the degree of correlation, and the degree of recognition. To further summarize, there is a problem of small width, lack density and loose discipline system, and the low level of H&SS in the Universities of Science and Technology. In from the richness of the subjects, the degree of correlation, and the degree of recognition, the gap in five universities is very obvious. relatively speaking, Huazhong University of science and technology get more achievements, summarizes the basic experience in the construction of H&SS is "based on the status quo, situation distinguish, clear objectives, team building, system security and implement them." The second part selected Southeast University as samples, through the introduction of ecological niche models to explore the subject evaluation technology route, and use niche width model, niche overlap model and niche "state" and "potential" models to analysis 15 of H&SS number. Draw the following conclusions. First, niche differences significantly between H&SS, distribution is too concentrated, H&SS superiority very weak. Second, the niche breadth of Humanities and social sciences has increased, but still large differences; the overall strength of the application of discipline is the strongest, the overall strength of basic subject is relatively weak. Third, niche overlap degree of inter disciplinary is very high, the degree of competition fierce, but the H&SS through continuous upgrading of development so that the degree of overlap is reduced, and enhances the competition ability of resources.At the same time, some issues might arise—high low shift, low move severe problems. Therefore different levels of development disciplines require different strategies of discipline, Narrow niche competition strategy should be adopted for the subjects with lower strength. For the ordinary course of the strength, the niche coordination and the expansion of the competition strategy should be taken.
