The New English Curriculum Standard was given a trial run in 2001 and implemented nationwide in 2004. Several years later, in April 2011, the Education Ministry revised the curriculum standard, namely, the Nine-year Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standard(2011)(hereinafter referred to as the Standard). Meanwhile, the English textbook of 2012 edition “Go for it” published by People’s Education Press emerges. This thesis makes high school teachers’ adaptation to English textbook change as the standpoint, and investigates the problems when using the textbook. In the process, internal factors such as teacher learning and teachers’ understanding of the new textbook are discussed; and in order to make the issue more comprehensive and specific, external factors such as school culture and teaching and group research culture are mentioned. Though some other factors may have an impact on textbook adaptation, this thesis focuses on teachers. As for research method, the thesis employs interviews. Through interviews with teachers, it finds that teachers complain it is too difficult to teach and have no idea to deal with the new textbook. The interviews also reflect a rift between school leaders and teachers. For these problems, the author put forward some implications and suggestions, such as attending teacher training actively, strengthening cooperation and interaction among teachers, reflection on teaching and so on. With the efforts of teachers, English teaching in the school will show some signs of a rise. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the background, the significance and some core concepts of the research; in the second part, the existing studies in this field are presented; in the third part, a detailed research program is explained; the fourth part discusses problems that teachers encounter through interviews; the fifth part tries to put forward some strategies and ways with existing studies; it makes an all-round conclusion and analyzes the prospect for research in the future.
