Postgraduate education always can be weighed by the quality of dissertation which, on a largely scale, is determined by the topics. A good thesis topic can be usually thought as a half done. Thus, it is of theoretical and practical significance to analyze the thesis topics of Master of Education in Biological Teaching.This study takes the thesis of Master of Education in Biological Teaching from the dissertation database of Chinese excellent master and Wanfang. 953 samples published over the period of 2011- 2015 were subjected to the content analysis and statistical analysis with pre-investigating. The characteristics and influence factors of the studied topics were further explored and summarized. Finally, countermeasures were proposed for improving the quality of educational master training and topic studied in the near future.Conclusions were drawn as follows:(1) the quantity of dissertation was increased gradually from 2011 to 2014(the published dissertations in 2015 were not studied for incompletely included in the databases). Generally speaking, the quantity of dissertation from the historical normal universities was outstanding follow by some universities with strong comprehensive strength. The high school education was the hot point of the dissertations, which accounted for 62.96% of the total sample. Regarding the domestic, urban, and ethnic studies dominated the educational master topics. On the presentation of the studies, "method field" was included in the 22.37% of the sample. The most popular methods were in the order of literature study, questionnaires, interviews, experimental study and case study, and at least of three study methods were employed in each dissertation.(2) The topics were focus on the teaching, and less shed light on the teachers. Research field was extensive but lack of balance.The characteristics, problems, and proposes were given as follows according to the findings listed above.1. Characteristics of topic choosing for the degree Master of Education in Biological Teaching. are:(1) extensive range,(2) up-to-date times,(3) full of practical value,(4) regional and well-targeted,(5) comprehensive and diverse study methods.2. Problems for topic choosing are:(1) topics evasive and short of balance,(2) short of originality and novelty,(3) international study deficiency,(4) rural and ethnic study scarcity,(5)unclear directivity,(6) simple batch type selection in individual institutions,(7) substandard study method using.3. The key influencing factors for the topic choosing are:(1) the self-quality of masters,(2) guidance from tutor,(3) offered curriculum,(4) openness and attention degree of university,(5) network database construction,etc.Finally, to improve the quality of dissertation topic choosing and master training in education, countermeasures were proposed as follow:(1) enhancing Master’s own quality,(2) improving and strengthening the guidance from tutors,(3) optimizing the curriculum and innovating teaching methods,(4) giving more attention to dissertation proposal,(5) increasing educational funding and leveling the dissertation database.
