Our high school mathematics curriculum standards and the compulsory education mathematics curriculum standard explicitly point out the importance of problem solving. In order to adapt to the effective implementation of problem solving teaching under the background of curriculum reform,the article based on the content of the function explores and researches the evaluation of high school students’ ability to solve mathematical problems.The article uses the literature analysis,interview research and statistical analysis method.Firstly,after sorting out and analyzing the related literature about psychological mechanism and evaluation of the problem solving at home and abroad,this article based on Dewey’s theory of five stages establishes the psychological mechanism of function problem solving. Secondly,after referencing the ways,methods of PISA on analysis of students’ problem solving and corresponding knowledge of cognitive diagnosis theory, the article constructs the evaluation system of function problem solving ability and practices it. Conclusions are as follows:1.Psychological mechanism of problem solving in mathematics subject includes four stages:clear problem,plan,implementation plan,reflection.2.The evaluation system of function problem solving ability includes two parts:the evaluation index system of function problem solving abilityand the sublevel description of function problem solving ability.The evaluation index system of function problem solving ability is divided into three levels: the first-class index is four stages of mathematics problem-solving psychological mechanism; the second-class index is 8basic abilities of problem solving;the third-class index is 15 kinds of specific capacity that they are under 8 basic abilities of problem solving.The sublevel description of function problem solving ability contains four parts which ranges from high to low : higher level, middle level, low level and lower level. The standard of division is quantity and quality that meets the index of evaluation index system.3.The evaluation system of function problem solving ability constructed by this study shows the rationality in concrete practice stage from three aspects that includes integrity,phase and complementary. I can get many conclusions from the article.For example,the students in experimental class generally showed better ability of function problem solving than the students in regular class;most of the students ignored expression diversity and were lack of innovation ability and so on.4.The evaluation system of function problem solving ability constructed by this study can combine with teaching practice well.
