Teaching competition is an important way to promote the professional development of teachers in middle school, and an essential part of teachers’ daily teaching and research activities. Since the new curriculum reform in 2001, with the promotion of "race to promote teaching" and "race to train teaching" teachers’ training methods, the size and types of national teaching competitions have been developed rapidly. Participants have enlarged from middle school teachers to normal university students and postgraduate students majoring in physics. National teaching competitions play very important role in promoting the professional development physics teachers in middle school and normal university students and postgraduate students majoring in physics. In order to have an insight into the forms, the contents, and the influence on national middle school physics teaching competitions, the thesis focus on three sudies, and get revelent conclusions.study one, study the development course and types of teaching competitions by analyzing documents related to teaching competitions. Then conduct further research on the organization modes of competitions combined with experts interviews. Conclusions go as follows:(1)The development course of teaching competitions can be divided into three main stages: initial stage(from 1994 to 2000); promotion and self perfection stage(from 2001 to 2010); prosperous development stage(after 2011).(2)According to the purpose of the organizers, competitons can be divided into three categories: high-quality lesson competitions, teaching skills competitions and micro course competitions. High-quality lesson competitions appear earliestly, which get the largest number. Micro course competitions are rising in recent years, which get small number.(3)There are two kinds of organization modes in professional competitions: one is top-down mode, which is supervised by the administrative department of education; the other is self-participation mode,which is relatively flexible.Study two, research on the envents of teaching competitions and the topics selected by the participants by analyzing documents related to teaching competitions and teaching plans from participants. Conclusions go as follows:(1)Organizers set different events to achieve their purpose. The events of highquality lesson competitions are relatively simple,which emphasises real classroom teaching and teacher’ overall quality, focuing on the overall design, the process of teaching, and effect. The events of teaching skills competitions are very rich. They are aimed to investigate the teaching skills of the participants through a number of events. The micro course competitions are aimed to examine the ability of dealing with a certain point of knowledge and the micro course production through the form of micro course video.(2)The distribution of selected topics from teachers and students in learning module of module of “standards of high school physics curriculum(experimental)” and in primary theme of content of “compulsory education physics curriculum standar(experimental manuscript)” is of some similarities. The ditribution of selected topics in second theme is different between teachers and students.Study three, study the influence of teaching competitions on middle school physics teachers, normal university students and postgraduate students majoring in physics, through questionnaire survey and interviews. Conclusions go as follows:(1)There are different influence on teachers’ teaching skills, teaching methods, and teaching means by participating the competitions. In the dimension of teaching skills, teachers have great improvement on instructional design skills, experimental skills, modern skills, organization and implementation skills. In the dimension of teaching methods, the frequency of using lecturing method decreased. The frequency of using computer multimedia teaching method, experimental method, and comprehensive application of various teaching methods is inceased. In the dimension of teaching means, the frequency of using the traditional "chalk and blackboard" decreased. The frequency of using the network technology, computer multimedia, and comprehensive application of various teaching means is inceased.(2)Teaching competitions brings significant influence on students’ modern skills, instructional design skills, lecturing skills, experimental skills, class leading skills. The network technology and computer multimedia skills which belongs to modern skills improved greatly.In a word, with the development of the new curriculum reform, the size and types of the national teaching competitions have been rapidly developed. The thesis has certain practical significance on study the forms, contents, and the influence of national middle school physics teaching competitions.
