Table tennis skill teaching is the core of the implementation of the special course of table tennis. In the teaching of table tennis teaching, innovative teaching methods are the practical needs of the cause of table tennis teaching. In this paper, the experimental study is carried out with the "understanding teaching method". "Understanding teaching method" refers to the teaching process from the learner’s point of view, the knowledge and skills learned in the actual combat to get a comprehensive understanding, mastery and experience. It includes six steps: project introduction, game overview, tactical awareness training, site decision making, skill training and action completion, and so on. The understanding and cognition of these six aspects are of great practical significance and theoretical significance for the promotion of teaching effect.The research object of this paper is the problem of "understanding the teaching method" in the implementation of the table tennis special course of the 2014 level of physical education in Xi’an Physical Education University. The research methods of literature review of Xi’an Institute of Physical Education Library about the education psychology books, books, sports science and other books, as well as access to education, Chinese in How Net sports science and other relevant "understanding teaching method" of the relevant information; the interview is in charge of table tennis specialty class of Xi’an Physical Education University teachers and related psychology, education the teacher expert interviews; observation method in the course of the experiment carefully observe the students in the class all kinds of trends, improve the degree of observation and recording of the students on the table tennis technique and make relevant records; questionnaire survey from the end of the 14 days before the required sample group and the comparison group students fill in "teacher evaluation of Xi’an Physical Education University table tennis the ball course questionnaire"; experimental method using "understanding teaching method in Xi’an Physical Education University 2014 table tennis class Experimental study on the subjective initiative of pre- and post test. The students’ understanding degree is the independent variable, and the result is the dependent variable. Statistical analysis of the test data and experimental results obtained by the method of mathematical statistics in the pre experiment, experiment and post test.Through the experimental research results: traditional teaching method is mainly based on teachers, in the teaching process ignored the students’ subjectivity, initiative and ability; and understanding of teaching method is to student oriented and nature in the process of teaching students to learn is to enhance self- examination. "Understanding method of teaching" can better play table tennis the sport itself with the group, interesting, and the characteristics of athletics, Xi’an Institute of physical education in table tennis class students of the table tennis technology level can be improved better. Suggestions are made to improve the interaction between table tennis teachers and students, to take the student as the subject; the essence of table tennis skills teaching is the ascension of the student learning experience, pay attention to students’ learning experience is the key to training skills; in the teaching process play the subjectivity of students is table tennis teaching the core; adjust the teaching content, to "understanding method of teaching" with the actual situation in Xi’an Institute of physical education of the special class of the combining teaching, the teaching level will continue to improve.
