Research Of The Impact Of Manufacturing FDI On Technology Innovation In Guangdong Province

Guangdong Province, as one of the most developed China’s manufacturing provinces,already had a unique mode of production since the reform and opening up, it has made thecontribution for comprehensive economic development in Guangdong which cannot be ignored.As time went by, the process of globalization arose the world production networks, andpenetrated in each link. In this context, being the first opening of the special economic zone, theprovince relied on broad manufacturing development opportunities, constantly absorbing FDI allover the world. In the key stage of industrial transformation and upgrading, the province seesmanufacturing industry upgrade as an important task of perfecting economic structure. Duringthis time, Guangdong has injected a lot of manpower and material resources to achieve thegradual change of manufacturing industry structure, as a result of certain lack of technicalsupport in manufacturing industry earlier, so, to avoid keeping the continued low level ofprovince manufacturing, it has particularly stressed on the technical progress and innovation, andhas produced certain effects. Recent developments showed manufacturing industry structureoptimization and continuous improvement: such as the high technology industries, advancedmanufacturing industry became the focus of development, and actively maintained the traditionalmanufacturing industry competitiveness. The research of the relationship between manufacturingFDI absorption and technical innovation of will enable us to further clarify the manufacturingmethod for the optimization of the structure of manufacturing industry, to recognize theimportance of technological innovation in the process of production, and to be more significanton the government formulation of policies and encouragement on innovation policies.Combining the empirical analysis and the case analysis, this method has proved theconclusion: Guangdong manufacturing industry FDI has positive effects to the technicalinnovation. The province’s foreign investment policy shall have both theoretical and empiricalsupport.
