Since2001, Performance Excellence Model plays an important role not only inconducting and stimulating an excellent management, promoting and revitalizing thecompany, but also in improving its comprehensive quality and competitive ability.This model is also one of the critical factors for its transition from traditionalextensive management to detailed management, then an excellent management. As animportant pillar of national economy, construction industry in China still has manyproblems such as excessive number in quantity or uneven level in management, whichare just the key areas to implement the performance excellence model. Takingperformance excellence mode as the starting point, this paper tries to combine itstheory with specific examples in reality to explore the suitable way to introduce andapply this model to the majority of Chinese construction enterprises. The result can bethe reference for the construction enterprises when importing and implementing theperformance excellence model, so as to promote China’s construction enterprisesmanagement level and comprehensive strength.After a brief introduction, this paper, firstly, reviews its concept, its basic ideasand framework of the performance excellence model. Then, analyzes the status of itsimplementation in the domestic construction enterprises, and summarizes theadvanced experience and the problems during the process by focusing on the principleand appropriate way to introduce the Performance Excellence Model. It also analyzes,based on this mechanism, the establishment of self-assessment diagnosis system so asto pursuit excellent management. According to the7parts of the PerformanceExcellence Model, this paper, at last, detailed the specific practices taken by thecompany “Hebei Construction Group Co., Ltd”.The conclusion of this paper is that the Performance Excellence Model issuitable for the majority of construction enterprises in China. To practice it, we needfarsighted leadership, strategic approach, customer-driven system; We should buildsuch ideas as social responsibility, people-oriented, win-win cooperation as thecompany’s core concept; We should not only pay attention to the process but focus onits results; We should keep at learning, innovating and improving. When importingPerformance Excellence Model, we need to fully understand how to unify the existing management system, how to establish corresponding self-assessment andimprovement system, how to reduce business risk, improve enterprise managementlevel and how to provide a good platform to enhance its competitiveness.The resultsof this study will provide some reference for the construction enterprise of our countryimplementation of performance excellence model.
