In the context of global economic integration, technology is blooming,competition become more and more cruel. Meanwhile, complex international politicalsituation and the changing economic environment have brought unprecedentedchallenges to the internationalization of Chinese enterprises. Therefore, Chineseenterprises have to find new self-positioning and development platform in globalmarket. It is a critical issue for Chinese enterprises to strengthen their competitiveadvantage and maintain sustainable development through integration of internalresources and external environment based on existing strengths.Multinational management theory has been developing in a long history, but theobjects under research are mostly the international business in Western countries.Furthermore, the theoretical background of the times and today changes a lot.Therefore, this article starts from the evolution of traditional multinational operationstheories, then summarizes the variation of transnational business environment anddeveloping direction of multinational operations theories and pays attention toresource-based theory. Furthermore, it makes analysis on the features in the process ofcompetitiveness formation for Chinese multinational enterprises with value chainapproach. On this basis, two representative China’s multinational enterprises areselected as research objects to make detailed analysis of aspects such as multinationaloperation process, self-positioning, core competitive advantages re-establishment andstrategic choice. Thus, valuable experience and inspiration are summarized.Finally, combined with theoretical and case analysis, the article summarizes thelaw on the way of Chinese enterprises multinational operation. It is proposed thatenterprises need to make consideration for both internal resources and externalenvironment, to develop appropriate strategic decision to build new competitiveadvantages and Heterogeneous capabilities. Meanwhile, enterprises should focus onkey aspects of the value chain, resources, capacity building and integration, etc.,Approaches such as international strategic cooperation, foundation of sub-branches,global learning and innovation, industrial chain extension could be tried by Chineseenterprises in order to form their own heterogeneous resources.
