Tourism is a typical information-intensive industries and it have rapidly developed inrecent years as an important part of national economy. During travelling, visitors have lots ofinformation needs. Library can provide information services toward tourists by using its ownresources, technology and personnel advantages to better meet the needs of touristsinformation. It can promote the construction of tourism public information service and benefitlibrary sustainable development. Based on the ideas this thesis devoted to research libraryhow to provide information to tourists, It will have an important practical significance totourism industry and the development of the library.The thesis is based on tourism, library science and information discipline, exploring theservice method and management mechanisms. The thesis consists of six parts as below:The first part is introduction, research background is introduced; provide the purpose andmeaning of study; domestic and international literature about library how to provideinformation to tourism is reviewed;In the second part, Starting from recent information supply institute, and then proposednecessity of library provide information services toward tourists.The third part is research of visitor information supply situation. Because tourists unlikeother service object of library, thesis analyst the feature of tourists firstly, and then analyzedand summed up many research conclusion about the way visitors inquire tourist informationand so on.The fourth part serves as the core of the thesis, proposed the content and method oflibrary provide information services for tourists, specifically, It consists of next four serviceapproach: develop and integrate public tourism information resource; provide informationservice by mobile terminal; increase tourism information service hardware facilities andpopularize library characteristic activities.The fifth part researched the management method of library provide information fortourists. Firstly, determined the government’s unified management to ensure public welfare.Secondly, library internal management measure, including books management, facultymanagement and funds management. Finally, proposed how to cooperate with the tourismadministration department, tourism businesses, scenic spots and other libraries The last part is the conclusion, which every stage of the conclusions were summarizedand proposed some questions for future research in library services for tourism.
