At present, China’s insurance industry has entered a high-speed development period.Facing the growing number of insurance body and increasingly fierce market competition,the public asks for higher quality of insurance products and services. Insurancecompanies need to establish a comprehensive performance management system,continuously improve management efficiency and level, separate enterprise objective andtask to every level of position, guide employee behavior by the result and ultimatelyachieve business objective.China Pacific Property Insurance Co., Ltd. is a listed company ranked in the world’s top500enterprises. Z Company is a branch of CPPIC set up in Z city in charge of localproperty insurance business. Z Company enjoys high quality of brand and service, stablebusiness development and top market share. Z Company has established a set ofperformance management system with KPI as the core and achieved good result.However, after analysis, the system still needs improvement. For example, assessmentindex selection and weight distribution need more scientific basis and demonstration;performance management sometimes is a mere formality and in lack of process andattention; employees are not fully understand the performance management and conflictwith it; and due to high mobility of insurance employees, performance management is ashort-term work and not in favor of talents training and team stability.Based on the theory of performance management, this article analyzes the performancemanagement status of Z Company, discusses the problems existed and reasons, proposesimprovement programs and measures and perfects Z Company’s performancemanagement system. The performance management solutions for the insurance industryand enterprise development are discussed in this article, which would also become areference for them.
