Since the reform and opening-up, urban agglomeration is increasingly becoming oneof the most important part of China’s economic development. In the view of the above, thescope definition of agglomeration bulks large. Only by the rational division ofmetropolises can the government make plannings for its future development project. Andonly by this can the county acquire healthier and more reasonable development of citygroup.First of all, this article will introduce the research background and the presentoverseas, domestic investigation status of urban cluster and the scope definition ofagglomeration on county scale. According to this, the article can make prepare for thefurther definition of metropolitan area.In the next place, what follows the fundamental assumption of the city group divitionis the selection of the articles’ model. Then this paper chooses8economic and socialindicators of4Municipalities,291level-cities of21Procinces in china, according towhich the author make cluster analysis.And then, after making hierarchical cluster analysis, the essay gets91cities andfinally chooses35potential core cities from them. After that, the author draw a circlecentered on the core cities.At last, the author will calculate the values of economic relations on level-city andcounty scale of the blind spot, and contrast the different answers. Finally, the article willget the results of17city groups in china. And above this, the article analysis the presentsituation of cole city and its economic relation intensity with other cities, and providespolicy suggestions of each.
