By the end of2012, the floating population in China has nearly236million;about17%of national total population, the floating population of Shanghai is about9.6million, ranking first in the country. The vast majority of floating population isthe rural floating population, they flow into Shanghai from all walks of life, and hasbrought the huge impact on the Shanghai social and economic development. At thesame time,0.125mu of cultivated land per capita in Shanghai far lower than percapita arable land area of1.425acres, is far below the world average at the end of2012. Great population pressure and limited arable land seriously threat to foodsecurity in Shanghai. The country is strengthening the position of agriculture as thefoundation of the economy at present, Shanghai agricultural economy developmentthe12th five-year plan put forward the development of agricultural economy ofShanghai will ensure the supply of basic agricultural products, protection ofagricultural ecological environment, optimize the agricultural industrial structure,enhance the level of agricultural support, the overall goal of increasing the income ofagricultural practitioners. Under the guidance of overall goal, many scholarsconcerns how to develop population pressure into the power of the agriculturaleconomy, this also is the research purpose of this article.This paper researchesrelated theory about the agricultural economicdevelopment and the rural floating population and discusses the relationship of ruralfloating population and the agricultural economic growth.On this basis,this paperreference research experience by population movement to promote economic growthat home and abroad, try to make full use of the rural floating populationcharacteristics to guide the rational and orderly flow of rural migrants to promoteagricultural economic growth in developed areas like Shanghai and protect the interests of the rural floating population at the same time, and play a role in Shanghaimunicipal agricultural economy development and the rural floating populationmanagement and to safeguard food security and social stability Shanghai.This paper is divided into five chapters, the first chapter for the introduction,mainly elaborated research background and significance, the research both at homeand abroad, the main research methods and possible innovations in this paper.The second chapter discusses the concept of the rural floating population andagricultural economic growth, features and related theory, lay a foundation for furtheranalysis below.The third chapter introduces the conditions of the floating population in ruralareas of Shanghai in recent years, mainly in view of the present of the floatingpopulation in the rural areas of Shanghai, characteristics, in-depth understanding ofemployment situation.Chapter iv is the empirical analysis of the relationship between the rural floatingpopulation and agricultural growth in Shanghai.The paper first uses the greycorrelation analysis method to analyze the relationship between the rural floatingpopulation and the agricultural economic growth in Shanghai, on thisbasis, the paperresearches grain production which is closely related to food security and rural floatingpopulation. Finally the paper analyzes the relationship between the rural floatingpopulation and fishing which has important influence on Shanghai resident’s dailylife.Chapter5summarizes the relationship of rural floating population andagricultural economic growth on the basis of empirical analysis. According to aboveanalysis from the perspective of the rural floating population for agriculturaleconomic growth of Shanghai’s recommendation, pointed out the insufficient inresearch and needs further study.This article embarks from the overall research to the impact on the important partof the research, comprehensive on the relationship between the rural floatingpopulation and agricultural economic growth are analyzed, and put forward the policySuggestions, targeted and objectivity in order to promote the development ofagricultural economy in Shanghai, protect the interests of the rural floating populationand safeguard food security and social stability in the region.
