Service industry is one of the three industries and an importantcomponent of the national economy. With the development of the thirdindustrial revolution, the world has entered a new age of information. Serviceindustry is booming as the most active industry in the information age. Thedevelopment level of service industry especially modern service industry hasbecome an important indicator of a country or region economy. GuangdongProvince is optimizing the industrial structure and improving the developmentlevel of the service industry as an economically developed province of China.Guangdong Province service industry output value accounted for theproportion of area GDP for46.2%which higher than the national average in2012. The value added of service industry contribution to GDP growth rate of50.7%which higher than other industries.This paper bases on the previous researches and focuses on the analysisof Guangdong Province Service Industry Competitiveness. This paper usesstatistical methods and collects19indicators data of the Chinese mainland’s31provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions). Then analyzes theadvantages and disadvantages of service Industry development and the levelof services competitiveness of Guangdong Province compared to otherregions in China.The empirical results shows that the level of overall development ofservices in Guangdong is high, and service infrastructure is complete. But themodern service industry accounted for relatively is low compared with theadvanced level. The value added of services accounted for the proportion ofGDP should be improved. The proportion of service industry employmentaccounted for employment of the whole society is not enough. Thedevelopment of service industry in regional is imbalance. The quality of serviceindustry is lower than Beijing, Shanghai and other developed provinces andcities.
