Empirical Research For Competitiveness Of The Urban Economy In Jiangsu Province

Under the background of economic globalization, the city has gradually becomeindependent competitors in the urbanized advancement. It already participates in thecompetition between regions and even internationals. The urban economiccompetitiveness can affect the whole city competitiveness. So it is necessary toresearch the urban competitiveness. Jiangsu Province, as a region having developedeconomy in china, has a strong economic power. But there are still some restrictionfactors in the economic development of city. Therefore this text exactly proceeds fromthis angle, deeply researches the economic competitiveness of the13cities of JiangsuProvince，then find out the status and potential of city economic development. Thekey is to find out reasons of economic difference between the cities, and then putforward the countermeasures and suggestions to promote the development of cityeconomy. Based on the previous research, this paper constructs a set of evaluationindex system, carries out the comprehensive evaluation of city competitiveness withfactor analysis and clustering analysis, then calculates and sorts different factor scores.The city is divided into five categories.At last we make a specific analysis on thedifferences of economic competitiveness and find out the reasons for the gap,especially establish panel-data model to make influencing factor analysis of theregional economic disparity. Then we propose further measures and suggestions toimprove the economic competitiveness of Jiangsu Province.
