An Empirical Study On The Factors Influencing The Transformation And Upgrading Of Guangdong Foreign Trade

Since the reform and opening up, considerable progress has been madeGuangdong’s economic development, GDP from346.928billion in1993to57067.92billion in2012. With the continuous development of economy, Guangdong alsofurther improves the level of foreign trade, which has become an important growthpoint of the pull of Guangdong economy. The development of foreign trade, bring theadvanced technology and management experience, providing a lot of jobs forGuangdong, raise the level of the national income. As the academic research onforeign trade transformation and upgrading, increasing importance has been attachedto it from all walks of life, to promote Guangdong’s economic growth by thetransformation and upgrading of foreign trade has become the important purpose ofGuangdong economy achieve sustainable development.Based on the realization of the transformation and upgrading of Guangdongforeign trade path as the research object, through theoretical analysis and internationalforeign trade transformation and upgrading of case study, combined with the featureof Guangdong foreign trade at the present stage, summarizes the influence factors ofGuangdong foreign trade transformation and upgrading, points out the influencefactors to the Guangdong foreign trade transformation and upgrading, in order torealize the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade of Guangdong and even thewhole country to provide the beneficial reference. This paper on the relevant foreigntrade transformation and upgrading of domestic and foreign literature reviewed andcommented, and on this basis, according to the theory of comparative advantage andfactor endowment theory and national competitive advantage theory and value chaintheory as the theoretical basis, summarized the influence factors of Guangdongforeign trade transformation and upgrading and quantified. Then hybrid model usingpanel data for1993-2012Guangdong foreign trade transformation and upgrading andlabor input, capital input, technology progress, industrial structure, the relationshipbetween foreign direct investments and related supporting industries empiricalanalysis, and from the six aspects has carried on the explanation to the empiricalconclusions. Conclusion showed that labor input, industrial structure, foreign directinvestment and related supporting industries to the Guangdong foreign tradetransformation and upgrading has played a positive role, while capital input,technological progress to the Guangdong foreign trade failed to play a role. Finally, this paper suggests that the government adopt a series of measures topromote the realization of the transformation and upgrading of Guangdong foreigntrade including focus on talent cultivation, improve the quality of labor force, promoteindustrial development, optimize industrial structure, adjust the investment policy,improve the level of utilization of foreign capital, attaches great importance to thenecessary service facilities construction, speed up the related supporting industries topromote the realization of the transformation and upgrading of Guangdong foreigntrade.
