Highway transportation, as one of five kinds of transportation, has developed rapidlybecause of its flexible characteristics. It supports the services and the security. The paperfocuses on contribution of shaanxi province highway transportation industry to nationaleconomy and clears the role of the road transport industry of shaanxi province in theeconomic development.In the process of researching and analyzing for the contribution rate, the paper use thePorte diamond theory to explain the interacting relationship between the road transportindustry and the national economy. Namely, the development of road transport can promotethe growth of the national economy, while the growth of the national economy will be drivenby the development of the road transport industry. At the same time, Pareto optimalcombination points out that it is not certain the greater the transportation volume, the fasterthe economic growth. Only in Pareto optimal combination, the highway transportationindustry can promote the growth of the national economy.Combined with the economic statistics special investigation of2013road transport inShaanxi Province, the paper uses the method of income accounting the added value of theenterprise on the basis of the financial status questionnaire for road transportation enterprises.The ratio between the added value of highway transportation industry and the value of GDP is5.11%. It means the added value to the national economy has been computed. According todeveloping situation and existing problems of shaanxi province highway transportationindustry, the paper puts forward corresponding measures combining with the research andprovides the reference for the development of road transportation.
