Analysis On Contribution Of Highway Transportation To Economic Development Of Chengdu

As the important part of transportation system, highway transportation which is the important instrument and forward industry of in our economy is playing more and more role in economic development. It has contributed more to economic development of Chengdu city which located in the hinterland.Firstly, the paper analyzes systemically the international and domestic study concerning the interaction between transportation and regional economic development. To make a theoretical basis for the later quantitative analysis, after making qualitative analysis about the interaction between highway transportation and regional economic development, it points out that highway transportation not only improve the total economic value but also have big impact on the industrial structure , regional economic relation, spatial layout of economy, civilization and other economic development.Based on the general description of the economy and highway transportation in Chengdu city, the paper performs quantitative analysis on the contribution level of highway transportation to economic development of chengdu by the method of flexibility analysis and path analysis respectively. It also makes structural analysis from the point of view of the different highway net technical grade structure by contrast.By use of Canonical correlation and multiple regression, the paper performs quantitative analysis on the contribution level of highway transportation to industrial structure, regional economic relation, spatial layout of economy and civilization of Chengdu city. Finally, through the combination and conclusion of the whole analysis results, and on the basis of the study on the reasons, the paper presents the policy suggestions on how to exert the induct function of highway transportation to promote the regional economic development of Chengdu city in the future.
