| Highway transportation is one way of the integrated transportation and occupies a very important position in China’s overall transportation system. It is a bridge to connect various departments of the national economy. Highway transportation and the development of national economy are interrelated and interact on each other. On the one hand, highway transportation grows with the development needs of socio-economic, socio-economic development level determines the level of highway transportation development. On the other hand, the development of highway transportation plays an important role in promoting and supporting the socio-economic development. Henan Province is an important transportation hub in China and develops rapidly in recent years. The study and research of highway transportation and regional economic development in Henan Province have important practical significance.A method of combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis is used in this paper. On the basis of summing up the research experience of relationship between highway transportation and regional economic development in domestic and international, the paper introduces the related theoretical study. Moreover, the relationship between highway transportation and regional economic development is studied from the perspective of the qualitative analysis. In the quantitative analysis part, an evaluation index system of regional economic development and highway transportation is established. The paper uses factor analysis to evaluate regional economic development and highway transportation, and calculates the regional economic development and highway transportation development index. This study measures the highway transportation’s influence on regional economic development from1996to2010in Henan Province through contribution rate. Finally this study comes to the conclusion and makes recommendations to the highway transportation and regional economic development of Henan Province. |
