Research On The Influence Of Product Platform Knowledge Sharing And Team Continuity On Platform Performance

With the globalization of markets and the accelerating pace of product replacement,the competition between enterprises has focused on how to better satisfy the individualcustomer’s needs. Because the product platform has the characteristics of reusabilityand compatibility, it can quickly produce a series of derivatives. Product platformstrategy in the practical application is more and more widely that have attracted thetheoretical circle’s attention. Although research on this topic has been a lot, but mostlystudy about the platform strategy, platform upgrades and advantages, less study for howto improve the performance of the platform. Therefore, based on product platform as theresearch object, it is very necessary we research what factors will affect the platformperformance and provide recommendations for enterprises to improve platformperformance.After finishing summarize the relevant literature, this study constructed a model toclarify how knowledge sharing across platform-based products, continuity ofplatform-based product development teams affected on platform performance based oncompetence theory and theory of knowledge. Platform performance includes twodimensions of cost efficiency and the number of derivative products. Cost efficiency isrelative to the external competitors’ performance, the number of derivative products isthe relative performance of the organization. Next, we used the method of mail surveyto collect data and SPSS17.0software for confirmatory factor analysis, correlationanalysis, regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis to verify therelationship between knowledge sharing across platform-based products, continuity ofplatform-based product development teams and platform performance.Finally, based on the results of previous empirical analysis, in order to give fullplay to the potential of product platform, develop more and better products, enhancecompetitiveness and improve performance, The study also proposed correspondingstrategies recommendations, and summarized the conclusions of this study.
