This article takes the YC project as the research object which was executed by CHENGDA engineering corporation and BPEC engineering corporation, and discusses how engineering companies gained a competitive advantage, strengthening the cooperation between each other and complete resource integration into a complete project joint team in a large, complex engineering construction project. This article also analyzes and summarizes from two aspects of theory and practice when two engineering companies cooperated in a project joint team, how to design project organization and build the team, it provides us with some new ideas and practical application method under the new situation for comprehensive large complex chemical construction project organization design and team building.YC project is the comprehensive utilization project of oil, gas and coal resources, invested by Shanxi YC oil (group). In order to better implement the project, YC oil group established special major project leadership team to direct project construction; and established the owners’ project company, and it is responsible for project construction work in management. CHENGDA engineering corporation and BPEC Engineering Corporation made the joint construction executive team, according to their respective advantages, and finally won in the competition. The joint executive team will finish the overall design and basic engineering design of all the process unit and utilities, auxiliary facilities and administrative office facilities, except for the MTO unit and the projects which is not in the factory.Joint project team will encounter more management problems; the root cause is derived from different organization staff in the idea, system, behavior, and other aspects. Specifically, the management of YC project faces mainly the following three aspects:(1) Because the project team members deeply suffer from the influence of different cultures in their own former corporation, when they join a new team, culture conflict will cause unharmonious phenomenon, including the concept of value and management concept of differences.(2) The team members come from two corporations, because of inertia, they may habitually use their own management process and working procedure. The difference of management process and the working flow between project team members, can lead to project execution ending in deadlock.(3) In order to meet project management and supervision needs, two balance or primary and secondary management position may be set up, the primary and secondary manager and the former corporation leader may give orders separately, the team members do not know how to follow the orders.Facing the difficulties above, the joint executive team of YC project has solved the key problems very well in the project organization designing at the initial stage. First, according to the characteristics and the specialty of the two companies, to work out the project detailed definition of division and cooperation of work scope, make sure the project objectives; after that, to divide organization level reasonably, and determine the personnel configuration requirements of all levels, as well as report relationship between each other, and establish responsibilities system for each position and project management procedure. After the establishment of the project team, according to the different of project mission and different stages of team formation, to take appropriate management measures. In roughly:At the initial stage of team established, to integrate human resource, set up a communication channel and team culture; In the adjusting period, focus on the employees training in professional technology, work flow and view of values, to make team members into normal team work and life as soon as possible; In the stable period, popular performance evaluation becomes key management, project manager shall adopt the scientific method and program to evaluate and assess team and personnel, at the same time, the incentive measures have also been put on the agenda; In the team dissolution period when team completes tasks, we should also ensure the continuation of the incentive, that is, after the project has been completed, both side has accumulated a good experience and understanding, and can keep in touch and contribute in future cooperation.To sum up, the research of the specific contents and ideas is:chapter1introduced the topic of analyzing the background, the research purpose and research content. Chapter2included:the characteristics and types of project organization, brief introduction to the development and characteristics of the project management, and the status quo of China’s chemical industry project management. Chapter3respectively analyzed CHENGDA engineering corporation and BPEC engineering corporation in business scope and field, the company organization structure, functional departments of labor division and project management model, and also explained the two companies’cooperation background and cooperation content, fully prepared for following construction of joint project executive team. Chapter4, through introduction of YC coal, oil and gas source comprehensive utilization project, include introduction to the project background, process units and utility facilities and so on, summed up the possible problems may face in management of the joint project team. Chapter5, the main aim is to solve the above problems. In this chapter, based on project organization design basic principle, explains optimization of the YC project organization design and project management mode. Finally, because the project team will face the problem of management, and tentatively propose from four aspects how to set up an efficient joint project team. Chapter6is the summary of the article, the main conclusion of this study was summarized, the problems in the study of reflection, and put forward the direction of future research.This topic research completed the expected purpose well, at the same time, because of the inadequacy of ability of individual research and investigation of the time limit, it has some limitations. On one hand, project management is a more complex management work, it needs many co-operations and participations. In this research, the two companies are in a busy period, interview work is not enough, mainly through the form of paper data collection for the two companies and the related YC project, and therefore, the information of the completeness and accuracy is not enough. This makes us face the management problems of YC project which is not comprehensive investigation, the impact on the depth of the study. On the other hand, traditionally, the success of the project mainly to standard for cost, schedule and quality three index. Because of the importance of human resource is more and more get attention and recognition, team construction will be the fourth largest standards of project management. However, this study does not analysis the relationship between team construction and former three standards, the width of the research remains to be developed. Therefore, to study project management with the team construction, cost, schedule and quality control link is the future research direction of the author who will continue to work hard.
