About six years ago, the outlook of cloud computing was unclear when Google CEO Eric Schmidt introduced the concept of "cloud computing" from commercial perspective the first time at San Jose Search Engine forum in August2006. After that, cloud computing products and services have been gradually developing to mature status in only6years evolution and cloud computing becomes new direction of growth for information technology industry now. Cloud computing era has arrived with cloud computing services and applications as core features, with mobile Internet and social networking spreading. Cloud computing has become the most important technology base to accelerate the rapid development of social networking and mobile Internet. IT transformation featured by cloud computing is1not only changing people’s lifestyle and the way of communication subtly, but also bringing broader imagination to the future of enterprise company because of its unique and innovative technology application mode. However, cloud computing also brings huge challenges to enterprise IT organization while it enhances and promotes information technology core competencies for company. As the primary promoter of information technology inside Company, IT departments will have to confront and answer following questions, such as "How to adjust IT strategy in IT commercialization trends of cloud computing?" and "How to respond to the trend of IT service consumerization and social networking in cloud computing era?"This paper takes the IT department of YT Company (Multinational corporation in high-tech industry) as object of study. The study focuses on IT strategic changes and adjustments observed in cloud computing era. At first, it introduces overall IT strategy and IT management practices of YT Company before cloud computing era. Secondly, it lists down all the opportunities and challenges brought by cloud computing. By applying business management and strategic management theory, this paper introduces IT management transformation in the areas of IT technology strategy and IT service management, and it also discusses how cloud computing contributes in these IT transformation activities. In IT service management transformation part, it describes service management best practices based on "IT service lifecycle" spirit of ITIL V3and the migration to cloud computing based IT service platform. In IT technology strategy management transformation part, it outlines the efforts of YT company made on catching up the trends of IT consumerization and IT social networking. In last part, the strategic positioning change of YT Company IT department in the cloud computing era is analyzed in detail and further discussed, and it proposes the idea of "Strategic position of IT in enterprise company will not be lost because of IT commercialization, instead, strategic values of IT for enterprise company is becoming more and more important"This paper comes to the conclusion by summarizing new trends and characteristics of enterprise IT growth represented by YT Company. The goal of this study is to help domestic companies recognize the strategic value of Information technology, meanwhile, drive IT departments of domestic companies toward the transition to "Innovation Center" and "Value Center" through introduction of latest management philosophy and best practice on IT strategy management from foreign multinational companies. By applying latest information technology characterized by cloud computing into company management environment, companies will be able to build up new enterprise information management mode which could bring qualitative leap to future business operations and growth of company eventually.
