Research On Competiveness Of Cocoon&Silk Industry In Guangxi Autonomous Region

Cocoon&silk industry is a traditional domain, connecting farmers, rural area and agriculturewith domestic consumption and international markets, involving income of20million sericulturists,and production and living of nearly one million industrial workers. For a long time, the industry playsan important role in increasing farmers’ income, creating jobs, protecting ecological environment,expanding exports, raising fiscal revenue, etc. Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region sees goodnatural conditions and geographical location. Local sericulture industry develops rapidly. Area ofmulberry field and output for silkworm cocoon and raw silk in Guangxi has been ranking firstrespectively nationwide for many years. It is agreed that the Best Silk of the World Is from China andThat of China Is from Guangxi. Long-term, stable and healthy development of cocoon and silkindustry in Guangxi concerns the supply and prices for cocoon and raw silk in China or eveninternational markets, and indirectly affects the back-end silk product market. Therefore, thedevelopment of cocoon&silk industry in Guangxi exerts greater influences on the whole industryand plays a pivotal role; it is necessary to study its industrial competitiveness.Based on the traditional trade theory, comparative advantage theory, industrial organizationtheory, theory of competitive advantage and resource-based theory, focusing on the factorsinfluencing and determining the cocoon&silk industry competitiveness, using literature research,experiences summarizing, Delphi Method, fuzzy analysis, factor analysis, and analytic hierarchyprocess, combined quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis, macro analysis with microanalysis, and horizontal comparison with vertical comparison, the article constructs evaluation indexsystem and evaluation model of cocoon&silk industry competitiveness, to scientifically analyze andrank silk industries in Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang. Finally, combinedcurrent competitiveness with development of the cocoon&silk industry in Guangxi, it puts forwardcountermeasures suitable for local industrial development.The main research conclusions of this article are as follows:I Construct30-indicator-variable evaluation index system and analytical model of cocoon&silkindustry competitiveness, establishing from three aspects of agricultural competitiveness, industrialcompetitiveness and trade competitiveness, and sorting out links such as mulberry growing, silkwormraising, silk reeling and weaving, branding and marketing.II Synthesize30indicator variables into eight effective competitiveness evaluation factors,namely sericulture scale, sericulture technology, sericulture efficiency, cocoon quality, reeling scale,equipment modernization, silk export strength and silk domestic sales strength.III Calculate contribution rate of effective factors: the contribution of sericulture scale toagricultural competitiveness of the industry is32.165%(sericulture technology31.073%, sericultureefficiency24.987%, cocoon quality11.775%, reeling scale51.553%, equipment modernization48.448%, silk export strength56.909%and silk domestic sales strength43.091%).IV Calculate and rank according to evaluation index system of cocoon&silk industrycompetitiveness. The comprehensive competitiveness of cocoon&silk industry in Guangxi ranksthird in the sample provinces, with its agricultural competitiveness, industrial competitiveness andtrade compely. V Put forward countermeasures suitable for local industrial development according to evaluationresults.
