With the rapid development of our country’s economy, the enhancementof the comprehensive national strength and the increase of people’s income, privatecars have quickly entered the ordinary family, our country has been gradually steppinginto the "auto society". At the same time, along with the constant improvement of ourcountry’s holiday system, the highway network and the communication and informationnetwork, self-driving tourism has quietly become one of the popular travel ways.However,since the self-driving tour industry started late in our country, both thestudy of self-driving tour and the development of the self-driving tourism market of itsown can’t meet the demand of the self-driving tourism market. At present, the study ofself-driving tourism mainly concentrated on the connotation of self-driving tourism, thecauses of self-driving travel market, the current condition of self-driving tourism, theproblems of self-driving travel, the development of self-driving tour product and thedevelopment of specific regional self-driving tourism. However, the study on thebehavior of self-driving tourists is not sufficient and it is not conducive to the healthyand orderly development of self-driving tourism market.Chengdu is the city with the number of private cars ranking the second in China,and the self-driving tourism there has been developing fast. Taking chengdu self-drivingtourists as the research object, this paper explores Chengdu self-driving tourists’ travelpatterns through the form of questionnaire and interview study on people’s populationcharacteristics, travel motivation, self-driving tour information access, tourists’decision-making influence factors, travel time, travel companion, tourist consumptionbehavior, and the perception of self-driving tourist destination after travel. According tothe travel law, the author puts forward the development countermeasures respectivelyfrom the government level and the enterprise level in order to help the development of the tourism market and create products to meet the demand of self-driving, enrich thetype of self-driving tourism product and improve the quality of self-driving tourismproducts, finally increase the self-driving tourists’ satisfaction.This paper adopts the method of questionnaire and depth interview, using SPSS.17.0, the Statistics statistical analysis software to study the behavior of the self-drivingtourists in Chengdu. This paper includes five parts. The first part introduces the researchbackground, research significance, research methods and main content; The second partis mainly about the literature review and theoretical basis. The self-driving tourism andtourist behavior at home and abroad were also reviewed in this part; The third partstudies the self-driving tourists’ travel behavior before and after travel by takingChengdu’ self-driving tourists for example; The fourth part puts forward thedevelopment countermeasures of self-driving travel separately from the governmentlevel and the level of self-driving tourism related businesses; The fifth part is thearticle’s conclusion and prospect.
