In today’s world, globalization is the trend of development of the supply chainmanagement. The globalization of the supply chain make the enterprises obtain hugebenefits, along with the concept of globalization becoming increasingly popular in theglobal,supply chain has become more and more complex, it was observed that thissupply chain model is often very fragile. In case of any emergencies, it may causetremendous negative impact to the well-designed and well-functioning supply chain,even make it completely paralyzed. With the kinds of accidents caused by supply chaindisruptions cases continue to occur, people have to pay attention to supply chain riskassessment and crisis management.However, the normal operation of the supply chain will inevitably be affected by theimpact of unexpected events, the destruction of a link, and can not operate in fullaccordance with the predetermined way, thereby affecting the entire supply chain. Thenthe enterprises will need to recover the supply chain in the shortest possible time tominimize loss, the resilience of the supply chain is the ability to respond in a timelymanner when the enterprises are in the event of emergencies,. In addition to ensuring thatenterprises continue to operate after the destruction, if we can make a more favorableresponse than the competitors, it potentially can be a competitive advantage for theenterprise. This means that, if the competitors are not able to do, the companies canprovide services for customers of competitors, so that it will be the opportunity for theenterprises to increase their own compete capital.The destruction caused by the floods in Thailand in November2011on the supplychain of many industries.I will use the STX company’s supply chain was damaged inThailand floods as the background and use the theory of supply chain management and crisis management theory as theoretical support, then study what measures and strategiesSTX Company taken to deal with the this supply Chain crisis, make the supply chainreconstruction quickly, abtain the competitive advantage against competitors, make thecrisis into opportunities.This thesis is divided into six chapters, the first chapter is the introduction of thebackground and framework of thesis; the second chapter outlines the theory of supplychain management and crisis management; then using the case of STX as studybackground, in the third chapter,I briefly introduces the hard drive industry expertiseand STX company;In the forth chapter,after introducing STX’s supply chain layoutcharacteristics and crisis management,then highlights the severe destruction to the supplychain on the hard drive industry and STX by the Thailand floods, and use this asbackground and go into chapter5,then introduce the coping strategies and measures bySTX company,then we entered into a summary and outlook, mainly summarizes thegain and loss according to the strategy taken by STX in the face of a crisis in the supplychain, and then look into the future case-based reasoning research for the supply chainemergency management.
