| With the development of Reform and Opening up, urban tourism has beendeveloping rapidly, becoming one of the fastest growth in the largesttourism form, arousing extensively interests in this research field andresulting in plenty of achievements so far. It is clear that thedevelopment of tourism has become an important approach to the economicdevelopment of cities. With the development of tourism industry, thecompetitions between urban tourism and the investments of citygovernments on tourism industry have been enhanced markedly. Urbantourism of Jiangxi province has also been greatly developing, improvingthe system constantly, and put forward the grand goal of the constructionof major province of tourism industry. Cities in Jiangxi have increasedthe urban tourism development efforts, at the same time, there is a bigdifference in different cities on the ability of resource usage. Thepurpose of this study here mainly is to evaluate the performance ofresources usage in different urban tourism development and analyze itsinfluencing factors from the space-time perspective.Firstly, through the analysis of the related literature, summarizethe current situation of the research has the following characteristics.(1) The increase of vision. With the development of tourism, the tourismsector has received more and more attention, the research field expandingto tourist traffic, travel, tourism destination and other comprehensivedepartments.(2) Research methods enrich. Data Envelopment Analysis andits models, such as CRS、VRS and Malmquist Index, and other mathematicalmodel were often used in Economics for efficiency and productivityestimation.(3) Interdisciplinary degree deepens. With the importance and urgency of the research of tourism efficiency to continuously improve,more scholars with different background, such as ecology, environmentalscience, social science and geography, are being carried out researchabout tourism efficiency.Secondly，urban tourism were analyzed and evaluated by using themethod of DEA. The results are as follows:(1)Urban tourism efficiency of Jiangxi shows higher levels, and thevast majority of the city at least a decomposition is valid. Results showthat in the process of the development of Jiangxi tourism, technicalefficiency relative to the scale efficiency is more likely to achieve theeffective level.(2)Nowadays, many cities mainly concentrated in the relativelydeveloped areas show a characteristic of increasing returns to scale. Forthe majority of the city, they still can expand the scale of tourismdevelopment inputs to obtain higher tourism output, and then improve theefficiency of Jiangxi city tourism development level, narrowing theregional gap.(3)Decomposition efficiency displays different influence to thetotal efficiency along with the different historical period. Earlier, thetechnical efficiency is dominant; in2006, these decompositionefficiencies are not alone explain on total efficiency; in2011, the scaleefficiency is the main factor to affect the total efficiency.(4)From the spatial distribution and regional comparison of results,the higher total tourism efficiency and scale efficiency are mainlydistributed in small economic scale and the smaller cities. And the highertechnical efficiency cities basically cover the whole region of JiangxiProvince, space law is not obvious.Finally, on the basis of urban tourism efficiency evaluation ofJiangxi Province, put forward the corresponding suggestions. This research is based on tourism investment in different cities,their usage ability different, studies the efficiency of urban tourismfrom a new perspective. It has some scientific significance in researchof the urban tourism efficiency, provides a scientific basis and practicalreference to promote the rational use of resources and enhance theefficiency of urban tourism. In addition, how to make the evaluation morestandardized, how to choose the more specific index for characterizationof the urban tourism efficiency, pending further study and research. |
