The depth of the western development strategy and the strategy of implementing the development of the Beibu gulf economic zone and the speeding up of industrialization and urbanization are drivng the economy of Guangxi into the continuous high-speed growth in the fast lane.In the stage of economic development of Guangxi, the contradiction between economic development and resources, environmental protection is increasingly prominent, especially with the rapid of economic development and population increase,The contradiction of water resources, land resources shortage is more and more acute,to some extent leading to ecological unsustainability. And sustainable development has become a research hotspot at home and abroad. In this paper, the quantitative research of sustainable development of the ecological footprint method is adopted. According to the social and economic statistical yearbook of Guangxi and the relevant data obtained from the investigation practice, the ecological footprint and ecological carrying capacity Of Guangxi in2002to2011was calculated, respectively. Combined with the ecological footprint of ten thousand yuan GDP, ten thousand yuan GDP ecological deficit, ecological footprint index EFI, ecological coordination degree of the DS, ecological footprint diversity index H and C ecological economics development ability to Quantitatively research the sustainable development of the economy in Guangxi. Finally putting forward some Suggestions to realize the sustainable development of Guangxi to provide theoretical basis for the comprehensive development of social economy in Guangxi.The results of analysis show:(1)Ecological footprint of Guangxi in2011of various land types ordering with the degree of influence:energy land> grassland> cultivated land> forest land> water area> construction land. Energy land, grassland and cultivated land accounted for80%, and is rising year by year.(2)With the development of economy, the demand of the ecological footprint is becoming much bigger. The per capita ecological footprint in Guangxi increased from1.3334hm2/cap cap in2002to2.2343hm2/cap in2011, and the ecological deficit increased from0.8254hm2/cap in2002to1.5914hm2/cap in2011, already beyond the bearing capacity of the ecological environment seriously. (3)Ecological footprint of ten thousand yuan GDP dropped from2.5477hm2/cap in2002to0.9911hm2/cap in2011and Ecological economic development capacity C increased from1.84in2002to3.27in2011show that with the progress of science and technology, increasing the efficiency of human use of natural resources. The ecological footprint index EFI is less than-100%which means the serious unsustainable. Ecological coordination index of DS is dropped from1.29in2002to1.26in2011, Indicating that the development of economy at the expense of the cost of sustainable and ecological coordination, And the grey prediction model GM (1,1) for the next10years in Guangxi per capita, per capita ecological carrying capacity and ecological deficit per capita ecological footprint is forecasted.According to the analysis of the sustainability of the development of Guangxi, Puting forward to promote some Suggestions for its sustainable development:firstly, to carry out the scientific concept of development; Secondly, improving the ecological carrying capacity; Thirdly, developing ecological economy and circular economy; Fourth, the reasonable adjustment of agricultural planting structure, increase the land’s ability to create wealth; Fifth, the mode of economic growth change resource consumption, improve the utilization efficiency of resources.
