The implementation of New Rural Social Pension Insurance (NRSPI) has a great impact on the farmers in China. The thesis, for the very start, conducts an analysis on the economic factors of weakening pension model in rural families. Followed by the summary of the economic factors influencing the effectiveness of the former Social Pension Insurance, the thesis provides some references for the improvement of NRSPI by learning a lesson from the former policies. The most important economic factor that influences the effectiveness of NRSPI concerns the family economic basis. The effectiveness is measured by four indexes:the sum of insurance buyers, the types of insurance bought by the farmers, the desire to buy the insurance and the satisfaction to NRSPI. The thesis analyzed the data from the field survey and the results indicate that the family economic basis has an obvious impact on the effectiveness of NRSPI.Moreover, the thesis applies the exchange theory proposed by Homans and the the rational proposition as theoretical basis, conducting the qualitative analysis on the data in the field survey. It shows that the economic factors influencing the effectiveness of NRSPI on the micro level concludes three parts. They are:the choices that are depended on the collective economy income, the low allowance from the government, the difficulties in paying and drawing the pensions. The author of the thesis analyzed the economic factors influencing the effectiveness of NRSPI and he finds out that the account structure of NRSPI policies is irrational, that it is difficult to preserve or increase the fund value, and that the policies in adjusting the treatment is unclear.Besides, the author made some suggestions based on the problems and urged that the economic measures are the key to solving these problems. To make it simple, the financial departments at central and provincial level have the urgency to increase the invested capital to NRSPI and then it is the duty for central government to optimize the policies in design. It is hoped that NRSPI can solve more problems in the process of improvement and can serve as a real guarantee in pension for Chinese farmers who have occupied the majority in population in the coming era of aging society.
