A Study On The Similarity In Zhejiang’s Manufacturing Industry

Since the21st century, the new technology and economic globalization havepromoted a gigantic change of the pattern of international division structure. Thetransfer of products and production elements have been accelerated worldwide, in orderto adapt to the new international situation, countries around the world have set off a newround of economic structural adjustment. The economy of Zhejiang province hasexperienced the quantity expansion in the primary stage of industrialization, and enteredinto the intermediate stage of industrialization, which is characterized by economicgrowth, structural transformation and upgrading, in this stage it will promote theeconomic development gradually from quantity expansion to qualitative improve.This paper is divided into seven parts, the main contents were as follows: the firstpart mainly elaborated the research background, significance, difficulties and possibleinnovation points, introduced the main content of the paper and the structurearrangement. The second part is the theoretical basis and literature review. Introducedthe current cutting-edge academic research on similarity of industrial structure and itsdesirability, through this we summed up the main viewpoints of scholars and defines therelevant concepts of great importance, providing theoretical basis for further research.The third part is the measurement of Zhejiang’s manufacturing industry structuresimilarity and the trend of the evolution. We choose industry similarity coefficient tomeasure the similarity of industrial structure in Zhejiang province, selected industryoutput value with three digits in the segmented manufacturing industry data to measurethe similarity coefficient values among each two of the11cities in Zhejiang provincefrom year2000to2011, through graphics to more intuitively reflect regional industrialstructure similarity coefficient trends over time. In the fourth part, we identified theinfluential factors of industrial structure similarity and analyzed the influence naturalresources endowment, regional protectionism, level of economic development, foreigninvestment, regional and historical factors, etc. from theoretical analysis. The fifth partis the empirical analysis for the theory explanations of the forth part and concluded therelationship between industrial structure similarity and various influencing factorsthrough regression results. The sixth part is the research on the desirability of structuralsimilarity level of Zhejiang’s manufacturing industry. We expounds the research status of the desirability of the industrial structure similarity, put forward new industrialstructure similarity index to judge the desirability and judge whether the presentindustrial structure similarity of Zhejiang province is normal. The seventh part is theconclusion and policy recommendations part. According to the above research results,we put forward suggestions for the further optimization of the11cities ‘industrialstructure in Zhejiang province and realize the transformation and upgrading of industrialstructure.
