As economic globalization develops in depth, regional cooperation has started toflourish in the meantime. Compared with Europe and North America, regionalcooperation in East Asia is still very backward, however, the cooperativeconsciousness of East Asian countries initiates to strengthen. Regional cooperation,represented by "10+1","10+3","10+6", displays diversified developmentsgradually.For a long time, academics are more concerned about the internal contradictionsand differences in East Asia, while the attentions on the impacts from the outside arenot enough. However, in terms of the status of the current regional cooperation in EastAsia, a growing number of countries began to participate in East Asian integrationprocess, so the influence of external factors on the regional cooperation in East Asiaalso cannot be ignored. Especially after Obama took office, the U.S. governmentannounced “return to Asia”; East Asia became the core of U.S. global strategy. AsObama came to power, he changed the attitudes of previous government, which washesitated for regional cooperation in East Asia. He stepped in the integration processin East Asia, keeping a watchful eye on the integration, and tried to get involved in theprocess, in order to bring East Asia into the U.S. global strategy. Changes of U.S.strategy will have a significant impact on the East Asian regional cooperation, whichis a new situation currently towards East Asian regional cooperation; therefore,studying the impacts on the East Asian integration process brought by the UnitedStates has a very important practical significance.The first chapter describes the history of and a current development of regionalcooperation in East Asia, focusing on the characteristics of the cooperation in EastAsia, as well as analyzes the significances and the difficulties currently towards EastAsia. The second chapter analyzes the reasons and strategic means of the integrationof the United States in East Asia, in order to comprehensively grasp the position andnature of the American involvement in regional cooperation in East Asia. The thirdchapter expounds the significant influences of East Asian regional cooperation influenced by the American factors from the passive and active aspects. Finally, thearticle tries to put forward feasible suggestions for regional cooperation in East Asiaagainst the strategy in order to jointly resist the negative impact of U.S. Policy and topromote East Asian regional co-operative process.
