| Regional cooperation in East Asia has already become the focal and central issue in the study of international relations both at home and at abroad. With regard to this, many scholars have conducted a lot of profound and deep achievements from different respects and angles. This dissertation, which is based on the other scholars' achievements, tries to make an analysis and judgment of the developments, changes and the trend in the present regional cooperation in East Asia from a perspective of culture. After the cold war, fundamental changes have taken place in the international structure, and regionalization has become an increasingly important trend in the world. Under this background, the regional cooperation in East Asia and its progress have attracted the world's attention. Meanwhile, after the end of Cold war, the cultural factor has become an important variable in affecting world politics, economics, and the theory of constructivism, which study culture and identity, has gained more and more approval and attention from the scholars. Obviously, culture has had important influence on the regional cooperation of East Asia, and how to analyze the current situation and the progress of the regional cooperation of East Asia from the visual angle of culture has become such a question that is worth studying conscientiously and being probed into thoroughly at present. Therefore, this dissertation is to probe into the influence being had by cultural factor on the East Asian regional cooperation under the theoretical framework of constructivism, that is to say, how the cultural factor influences the regional cooperation of East Asia, and how to construct cross cultural identity and to promote regional cooperation deeply. In terms of the ways culture affects regional cooperation, national and regional cultures respectively perform functions in regional cooperation on different levels. Also, there's a big difference in the effects on the regional cooperation between regional cultures of homogeneity and those with heterogeneity. Due to its differences and diversity, the East Asian culture has had important effects on its regional cooperation.Specifically, the whole dissertation is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction, and it mainly puts forward the research topic on the cultural factors' influence on the regional cooperation of East Asia, and expounds on the theoretical and practical significances of the study, the research situations on this theme in the current academic circles, the research methods and the framework of the thesis. The second part deals with the theoretical analysis of the relations between the cultural factor and regional cooperation. It defines the concept and features of culture, then it analyses the ways in which culture affects the regional cooperation generally, and the analysis is from two levels: one is from the level of national culture (the influences of national culture on the regional cooperation); another is from the level of regional culture (the different influences of cultures of homogeneity and those with heterogeneity on the regional cooperation). The third part is about the influences of East Asian culture on the regional cooperation, which is the core of this dissertation. It first analyses the divergence and diversity features of the East Asian culture, then makes an analysis of how cultures of heterogeneity affect the regional cooperation of East Asia and makes the conclusion. The fourth part is about the construction of cross-cultural identity in East Asia. Based on the research above, the author put forward the opinion on how to construct cross--culture identity in East Asian region. Firstly it expounds on the concept of identity and regional cultural identity, then analyses the necessity and feasibility and ways of constructing cross--culture identity in East Asia, finally ends off the thesis with expounding on the main contents of constructing cross--culture identity in East Asia. The fifth part is the conclusion. |
