Urban rail transit is the most effective means for evacuating urban population, developingsuburb economy and solving the problem of traffic distance between central cities and satellitecities due to the characteristics of large transportation capability, high speed, low energyconsumption, low environmental pollution, wide service range, etc. At present, the urban railtransit in China has entered a high-speed development period, but for such great engineeringwith huge expense, long construction period, long investment return period and profound socialbenefits, how to realize benign interaction between rail transit construction and economic beltdevelopment, promote economic development along the rail transit and ensure sustainabledevelopment of rail transit enterprises (urban rail enterprises for short) at the same time on thebasis of the realization of basic functions of the rail transit becomes an important project ofurban economic research. Therefore, the aims of developing the urban rail transit are not only torelieve urban traffic congestion, govern urban environment and improve urban space structure,but also to construct an economic belt along the rail transit and guide the economicdevelopment of hub towns along the rail transit through the change from “pancake” planeexpansion to “palm” axial development; and the contents and aims of developing the rail transiteconomic belt are not only for promoting the value of land and housing estates along the railtransit, but for promoting agglomeration of multiple modern industries of real estate, business,modem manufacturing, health leisure, entertainment, culture creativity, etc. to form alarge-scale economic circle and finally realize benign interaction between the rail transitconstruction and the economic belt.In view of the necessity and urgency of sustainable development of urban rail enterprisesand guidance requirement of government’s relevant planning, based on intensive study of thedevelopment history of rail transit at home and abroad and successful experience of rail transiteconomic belt development in this paper, interactive mechanism principles of rail transitconstruction and economic belt development are summarized; then development planning andcurrent situation of Chengdu metro and urban high-speed rail are elaborated; developmentindustries of Chengdu rail transit economic belt, mainly comprising real estate, business,manufacturing industry, culture and health leisure, are proposed; development of relevantresources of the rail transit, mainly comprising comprehensive management development,underground complex development, commercial complex development and multiplemanagement development, is carded; and finally, taking the important hub, namely Xipustation of Chengdu high-speed rail as an example, based on comprehensive analysis of goals ofsustainable development of urban rail enterprises and regional economic development along the rail transit, a rail transit hub type commercial complex taking a TOD mode as the core isproposed, to provide a development strategy suggestion for the government and urban railenterprises.
