Research On Comprehensive Development Of Urban Metro Complex Project In Chengdu

Ever since2005, Chengdu has launched its construction work of the underground public transit system, ranking first in the eastern cities and standing8th behind Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and some other southern cities in China. The city is basking into a great boom of metro development, as Line1and Line2came into service and Line3,4,7under construction. An "metro economy era" is expected to come, while new problems challenges our policy makers on how to grasp the opportunities, and handle the relationship between the metro construction and urban commercial layout promoting a healthy development of urban complex project.This paper defines a new concept "urban metro complex" basing on the definition of "urban complex" and puts forward some proposals to facilitate the construction of urban metro complex in Chengdu with an objective evaluation on the local commercial real estate market and a detailed study on the investment and progress of these urban metro complex projects in the central city.This paper innovates in that it puts forward a new solution, in the perspective of macro management, to coordinate the development of metro construction projects and commercial real estate projects under the government guidance. It provides a useful strategic framework within the present administrative system for the decision-makers of local government, metro companies and commercial real estate investors. It also makes some approaches to overcome the bottleneck which hinders the development of urban metro complex.
