Study Of China’s Low Carbon Economy Development Path Based On The Energy Efficiency

The overall amount of energy resources in China is relatively abundant, however,economy develops rapidly at the cost of irreversible huge loss in fossil energy. Fossilenergy has the property of non-renewability and extensive energy utilization patterns inusage which severely hampers the sustainable utilization of energy and sustainabledevelopment of ecological environment and poses a considerable threat to energysecurity. Low-carbon economy has been the best way to boost China’s economy a longand steady development due to its properties of low pollution, low energy consumptionand low emission. The influence on energetic economy caused by the change of energeticand economic structures can be explained from two angles, energy intensity and energyefficiency. Energy efficiency is described based on effect of factor supply on economicoutput of certain energy input.Starting with the angle of energy efficiency, correlation analysis of low-carboneconomy and energy efficiency is built based on data of unit energy consumption, GDPper capita, total population and CO2emissions in China from1985to2010. It is provedthat energy efficiency has effect on economic and environmental sustainabledevelopment, therefore, improving energy efficiency is inevitable requirement and bestentry point to develop low-carbon economy. Then, after teasing different energyefficiency definition and index, using total factor energy efficiency model based on DEA,analysis on regional energy efficiency and energy saving potentiality of29provinces inChina is obtained, and analysis on affecting factors of energy efficiency from technicalprogress, energy price, business structure, industrial structure, system factors is alsocarried on. On this basis, the problems to fit low-carbon economy development in Chinaare raised scientifically and completely, and finally, related policy suggestions are putforward for the development path of low-carbon economy in China.
