Research On Internet Domain Value Evaluation And Protection Measures

With the rapid development of cloud computing, massive data, intelligent network, social media and series of Internet application, the virtual network economy has gradually become the trend of the information era. Domain name is the basis of Internet, and has become the focus of enterprises. Domain name has become vital intangible assets of enterprises, its business value are equally important as trademarks and goodwill for Internet marketing, thus, the domain name has also been known as "a corporate trademark on the Internet".However, there are many domestic enterprises and institutions lacking in understanding of domain value and management method. Therefore, domain cybersquatting happens among many well-known enterprises, famous trademarks and specific names, which lead to intangible asset losses.This thesis starts from the fundamental knowledge of domain name, with in-depth analysis on the factors affecting the value of the domain name, puts forward the corresponding theoretical model; Meanwhile, with an exhaustive study of the current commonly used "4C" method on the domestic domain transaction platforms, the author has creatively advocated the "5C" method and undergone a detailed description in terms of the actual cases. Finally, on account of multiple years of work experience in the domain name industry, the author has detailed analyzed the various reasons of domain name cybersquatting and provided specific360degrees measures of domain name protection.
