Strategic management refers to the decisions and management art of an enterprise or organization in a certain period, the decisions is made by considering global, long-term development direction, objectives, tasks and policy, and the resource allocation. Strategic management includes a series of judgment to uncertain factors and draw up a strategy based on the environmental measurement. With the popularization of strategic management, more and more enterprises realize the importance of strategy; they operate a company according to the management theory rather than according to personal thoughts. At the same time more and more small and medium sized enterprises also realize importance of strategy, strategy is not only used by large enterprises.The small and medium sized enterprises is an important part of China economic, there are more than11million small and medium sized enterprises in China in June2012, Accounted for89.1%of the total number of domestic enterprises. At the past the small and medium-sized enterprise run the traditional business model, but now more and more small and medium-sized enterprises have strategic sense. The W company is one of them.W company is a private enterprise, who manufactures auto parts. On one hand, its human resources level is not high, on the other hand, its basic management has not yet established, from these two aspects, this company is not successful. But in the past ten years, thanks to the rapid development of industry and product characteristics, its sales revenue increased from20billion Yuan to more than100million Yuan in the case of absence of strategy, management confusion, low human level. In2010the company’s sales and profit level have reached a peak, but then began to decline, which makes W’s leaders began to realize, rely on the old way the company cannot have a good development. W company need to have clear strategic goals, and lay down measures under the guidance of the goals, and then put those measures into effect. This article analyzes the outside environment through the PEST analysis method in four factors:political, economic, social and technology; then analyzes its resources and skill, advantages and disadvantages of value chain through the development of internal resources and capacity analysis method. Through the analysis of these two aspects, we know external opportunities and threats, internal advantages and disadvantages of W company. Through the SWOT analysis method, we have four choices:opportunity and advantages, opportunity and disadvantages, threaten and advantages, threaten and disadvantages. According to these choices, this article formulate corresponding measures on organizational design, marketing, technology, human resource, supply chain and financial.In addition, this article also has many deficiencies. Firstly, this paper only can complete strategy formulation in view of time constraints. Second, I work just for a short time in the automotive industry; the industry analysis is not deep enough.Although there are some problems in this paper, i hope that it can provide some new ideas for the development of W company. I will do some adjustment according to the results of strategy implementation and environmental changes, to help the enterprise development better.
