This thesis uses the empirical study to analyze the relationship between pressure and performance, the relationship between organizational learning orientation and performance and the relationship between these three parts using organizational learning orientation as moderator. With the gradual open-up of China’s financial market, many foreign financial institutions are flowing into China and the competition in China banking industry itself is becoming more and more intensive. Banks are trying to maintain the amount of customers, to improve the investment rate and to innovate on financial products. Because the requirement for banking employees improved a lot, many employees feel unsatisfied and complain a lot. This thesis holds the idea that this dissatisfaction is pressure, which will influence the individual performance and organizational performance. In the empirical study, this thesis uses the questionnaire and data in the research from School of International Business in Southwestern University of Finance and Economic (SWUFE). The questionnaire collects1434samples from banks in Sichuan province. The empirical analysis instrument is SPSS16.0.The regression results show that the increase of pressure will have a positive effect on the increase of individual performance and organizational performance. The result can also explain the phenomenon that still a lot of students regard working in bank as a real good job even they have to work under pressure. At the same time, I found a lot of academic paper working on the relationship between organizational learning orientation and performance in IT industry. In some extent, banking industry is similar with IT industry, because they all need to deal with mountains of data and information, to innovate and to continuously learning. This thesis uses the data from banking industry to analyze this relationship. The regression results show that learning orientation will increase the individual performance and organizational performance.Because the organizational learning orientation is higher order of study (Sinkular,1999), it offers a better phenomenon and culture for learning in the organization. So this thesis is also interested in whether this kind of orientation will influence the relationship between pressure and performance. Organization learning orientation has three dimensions (Sinkular,1994):Commitment to Learn, Open-mindedness and Shared Vision. The regression results show that Commitment to Learn will devalue the positive effect of pressure on individual performance and organizational performance. Furthermore, Shared Vision will increase the positive effect of pressure on individual performance and organizational performance.
