From the early1980s, China’s rural agricultural land system reforms began, and carried out the household contract responsibility system for the majority of farmers. As a typical agricultural land system innovation with Chinese characteristics, household contract responsibility system can be described as pioneering at the time made remarkable achievements. It has had a significant and profound impact on nationwide entire rural economy. It’s an extremely important milestone in our country on the history of our land reform, and has played an irreplaceable role for a long period of time. However, as the pace of China’s rural economic development continues to accelerate, household contract responsibility system, which had greatly emancipated rural productivity, began to reveal serious deficiencies in the system of internal. First, the land is collectively owned, lead farmers don’t have enough expectations on the land use contract term. To a large extent, such concerns about future expectations affected farmers’inputs and accumulation on agricultural production, and led to inefficient land productivity. Secondly, the existing land system only gives users the land concession, farmers do not have sufficient rights to use contracted land. It is also an important reason which affects the efficiency of resource allocation and transfer of rural land. In addition, with the construction of the new urbanization rapidly advancing, rural land is gradually reducing, a large number of surplus rural labor force is also transferred to the secondary and tertiary industries, led to a serious agricultural sideline phenomenon. Small-scale household contract led the decline of our agricultural competitiveness and low comparative efficiency.Science2013, the central document put forward the "family farm" concept for the first time, Family farms began to rise across the country. To the present, family farms as new agricultural entities, not only retains the core family-run, but also adhere to the foundation in the country’s agricultural production of family-run. It is in line with China’s basic national conditions, is consistent with the characteristics of China’s agricultural production, and fit our current stage of economic and social development. It has become a vital force, and is leading the development of modern agriculture.Based on this, in the context of the central strongly advocated the development of new agricultural entities, Through the feasibility of the current development of family farms and the development of the current analysis start, this paper analyzes the current development status of family farms and the feasibility of the development, learn from the development experience of domestic and foreign-related, analysis factors influencing the development process of China’s current family farm, and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, in order to provide theoretical and practical reference for the development of family farms.This paper is divided into seven parts, and the main contents are summarized as follows:The first part is a general introduction to the background, the significance of the topic.The second part is an overview of the theory and literature review. On the basis of theoretical analysis on the parties defined the concept of the family farm. At the same time, sort out the family farm and a brief commentary for the existing academic achievements at home and abroad. And briefly describes the relative theoretical knowledge of large-scale agricultural operations, institutional change, property rights theory.The third part is the inevitability of the development of family farms. Introduce the development status of China’s major agricultural operations. Starting from the necessity and feasibility of development of family farms analyzed the inevitability of the development of family farms.The fourth part is the status quo of China’s development of family farms and the main factors. Introduces the development status of China’s current family farms, and describes the main factors such as the population, land, institutional, technological and socio-economic development in rural areas, that impact family farms development.The fifth part is learning experiences about the development of national and regional family farms. Introduces the characteristics of family farms in the United States, Japan, France, where family farms develop more successful. Combine with China’s specific national conditions, made some enlightenment.The sixth part is countermeasures and suggestions for the main factors affecting the development of China’s family farms. This paper argues that, if we want to develop the family farm, first, we need to reform the existing irrational household registration system, accelerate the development of professional farmers; secondly, we must develop appropriate fiscal and financial support policies, create a favorable policy environment for family farms; The third is to improve the agricultural extension system, sound agricultural and social service system; The fourth is to establish a sound social security system in rural areas, completely remove the worries of farmers off the land.Part seven is the conclusion and outlook. This section summarizes in its entirety and proposed the development of family farms require further thought.
