The food production and security is veryimportant for the developm-ent of China’s future. From1980s to the early21thcentury, China’s grain output increased by nearly80%, but the area sown to graincontinues to decline, the main food crop production layout and great changes havetaken place in the same time.This article through researching the main production situation of rice, wheat,corn, in the1980s to the early21th century of China to make a conclusion of the mainfood crop production location.And then to know about the cause of production layoutchange. With the transfer of the main food crop production location, how does itinfluence the food production safety in our country, society, economy, environmentand other aspects. At last to seek the rational allocation of food production resources,formulate scientific and provide theoretical basis for the policy of grain production.First of all the article has detailed description of the production and distributionof the rice, wheat, corn, in1980to2011. And use the geographic information systemto draw a map of the three major grain crops production situation across the country.We can make a comparison more intuitive of production distribution between the1980s,1990s and the early21st century. Sum up the main food crop production inChina area. In this paper, the study found our country food overall layout to show thecharacteristics is that:the trend of migration from the south to the north, wheatplanting concentration gradually increase, rice and corn are more dispersed.Nationwide food crops production layout is composed of policy guidance, marketdemand, natural selection, technology promotion and other aspects.
