The purpose of this paper is to examine and compare the industry competitiveness of the Chinese and Korean automotive industry. The paper notices that Korean automobile industry is a sole successful case among latecomers in the world automobile industry and tries to show what stage Chinese automobile industry is located in the development process of Korean industry and what strength and weakness it relatively possesses. To evaluate the competitiveness of Chinese automobile industry in comparison with Korean automobile industry, this research utilizes the Generalized Double Diamond Model, an improved model of the Diamond Model by Michael Porter. According to that model, this research sets variables for factor conditions, demand conditions, related&supporting industries, and firm strategy, structure&rivalry in both domestic and international aspects. The variables are applied to the present Chinese automobile industry and Korean automobile industry in1975,1982,1986,1991,1995, and2009, which are the years to represent the development process of Korean automobile industry.The results of analyzing data are as follows; Chinese automobile industry developed rapidly in comparison with the development process of Korean automobile industry. Chinese automobile industry already equal and even surpass the Korean automobile industry. The domestic demand and related and supporting industries are advantage. On the other hands, international demand is the problem the Chinese automobile industry should solve. If they enhance accessibility to international market china could become a true leader of World automobile industry in the near future.
