Research On Railways In Modern Guangdong(1927-1937)

Railway is the most important transportation in modern time. In the1920s and1930s,Guangdong has made great efforts to build new railways and improve the existing ones.Canton-Hankou Railway has been built during this time and made the North-South trafficcome to realize. Additionally, the connection of Canton-hankou and Kowloon-Canton railwayincreased the strength of anti-Japanese national salvation movement. However, it is a pity thatunder the condition of foreign invasion, the competition of different forces and dogfightbetween warlords, most of the constructions of new railway lines are fruitless and the effects ofreorganizing the existing railways are not significant enough. What is worse, there are manyaccidents happened in modern Guangdong railways. To do the research about the developmenttrack of the modern Guangdong railways is helpful in providing references for the developmentof transportation industry in contemporary Guangdong and the reduction of regionaldisparities.
